Environmental Policy

Impro_Environmental_PolicyWe recognise the importance of environmental considerations and we are committed to continually improving environmental performance at all stages of our business planning, development and production whilst continuing to produce high quality products to our customer’s specification and satisfaction. The objectives of our policy are:

    - Conserving energy.

    - Minimising waste in production and packaging.

    - Reducing solvents in the workplace.

    - Providing safe, clean and hygienic working conditions.

    - Recycling and reusing waste materials wherever practicable.

    - Safely storing and disposing of waste.

We are dedicated to continuingly improving environmental performance and we are currently working towards gaining our ISO 14001 accreditation by the end of 2010.

      Environmental Practices

Paper - Impro encourages their customers to select environmentally friendly paper during the print process and we have recently worked with some customers to promote and proof their printed material on recycled and part recycled papers.

All our waste paper is segregated and removed from the premises for recycling, by a legal registered carrier for paper recycling.

Impro sources all its paper from companies who are ISO 14001 accredited and who have been certified as meeting the requirements of Chain of Custody.

Plates - The plates Impro use are made from recyclable aluminium which have a higher grain structure to enable printing with less ink and water. The high sensitivity of the emulsion also means they require minimal laser power to produce press ready images. Additionally Impro’s plate processing requires half the amount of developer and replenisher compared to other market competitors.

Impro sources its plates from a global company who are ISO 14001 accredited and who conduct their business in an environmentally responsible manner.

Fount Solution -  Due to the environmental impact of alcohol solutions in the printing process Impro invested in an alcohol free system over four years ago. This system (Prisco) is one of the most environmentally friendly available to the printing industry.

Impro sources fount solution from a company who is committed to reducing their impact on the environment.

Coating - The print presses both have coating units and the pressroom coatings are all aqueous based. 100% of the waste from this process is removed for disposal by a legal registered supplier of this service.

Impro sources this product from a locally based company who is committed to reducing their impact on the environment.

Inks - The majority of inks Impro use are almost exclusively soya based, have a low volatile content and made with heavy metal free technologies. Waste ink and rags are removed for disposal by a legal registered supplier of this service.

Impro sources inks from local companies who have strict internal environmental protocols and who will remove their containers for reuse or recycling.

      Power

Impro_EnergyOur electricity is a 100% renewable sourced supply and is climate change levy exempt. Following a survey conducted by the Carbon Trust to review Impro’s power usage, new energy saving light fittings were installed throughout the whole factory and offices to reduce energy consumption in 2006.
